Infrared Leak Detection in Houston
Investigate Hidden Moisture Without Unnecessary Property Damage
Moisture can spread behind walls, beneath flooring, and around concealed plumbing before stains or other visible damage reveal the affected area. Our Infrared Leak Detection Services use thermal imaging to investigate surface temperature patterns associated with hidden moisture and suspected water damage.
An infrared scanning camera doesn’t see through walls. It displays temperature differences across accessible surfaces, helping our technicians identify areas that warrant closer investigation without immediately cutting into walls or floors.
Call (281) 941-2489 to ask whether infrared leak detection is appropriate for the symptoms you’ve noticed at your Houston property.
What Infrared Scanning May Reveal
Infrared scanning can identify patterns associated with concealed plumbing leaks, water intrusion, and moisture beneath flooring or behind walls. A thermal anomaly isn’t proof of a leak source by itself, so our technicians interpret camera findings alongside visible symptoms and property conditions.
Corporate-described applications for infrared scanning include:
- Water leaks and the damage they’ve caused
- Energy leaks
- Electrical “hot spots”
- Pests that have built nests in your home
Temperature patterns can vary based on the water source, surrounding materials, and conditions within the property. Thermal imaging can narrow the investigation area, but other detection methods may be needed to confirm the location or cause before repairs begin.
Why Houston Properties Develop Concealed Leaks
Houston properties can experience slab leaks and hidden pipe failures associated with shifting soils and aging plumbing systems. Other concerns include leaks behind walls or under flooring, problems below concrete foundations, and water intrusion involving roofs or sewer lines.
Unexplained water bill increases, damp areas, changes in walls or ceilings, and recurring moisture may warrant further investigation. The appropriate scan area depends on the layout, suspected water source, surface materials, and location of the reported symptoms.
We serve residential homes, commercial buildings, and community properties throughout the Houston market. Our goal is to investigate the suspected area while limiting avoidable disruption.
What to Expect During an Infrared Investigation
We begin by reviewing the symptoms and identifying the walls, floors, ceilings, or other surfaces connected to the suspected leak. Our technician then examines relevant areas for temperature differences and surface patterns that may indicate concealed moisture.
The investigation may involve:
- Symptom review: We consider where and when signs of moisture appeared.
- Targeted thermal imaging: We scan surfaces associated with the suspected water source rather than treating the camera as a stand-alone answer.
- Finding interpretation: We assess thermal patterns in relation to surrounding materials and property conditions.
- Next-step guidance: We explain whether another detection method or further confirmation may be appropriate.
We treat customers and their properties with respect, maintain clean work areas, and provide honest, upfront pricing through our Know Before You Go approach.

“Rick and his team provided EXCELLENT service and performed great work in what would have otherwise been a very challenging, stressful situation. There was a leak under our foundation, but with one call to American Leak Detection an incredibly professional team arrived, located the leak, and started repairs. Rick provided updates throughout the process so we knew what needed to happen and why. The pricing was fair and transparent and the work was completed on time (the weather didn't co-operate, but Rick and his team found a way). Major plumbing repairs can be incredibly stressful for any homeowner but ALD made the process a whole lot better. Based on the work and care American Leak Detection took with my home, this is the only plumbing company I would ever call.”- Brenden S.

“WOW, just when you think that the problem with your leaking Spa is going to be a nightmare, along comes American Leak Detection. My Pool and connecting Spa is about 40 years old. The Spa when in operation began to leak. Looked up leak vendors, American Leak quoted a fair price to locate the leak and was able to come out quickly. Shawn, American Leak technician showed up on the time agreed to. Very professional and at the same time friendly explaining in detail what he had found, what had to be done and reduced the agreed price because he identified the issues quickly...…..really, I intended on paying the full amount. He also quoted a price for the necessary repairs again, explaining in detail how and what has to be done by the repair crew. He left the proposal with me without any pressure to move forward and that all I needed to do if I decided to move forward was to schedule the repair with the main office....so far a very pleasant ordeal. I did indeed call the main office the next morning and scheduled the repair. Again on time Casey and a helper arrived for the repair. Casey kept me informed through the entire process. He actually found that all three of my "Jets" were broken/leaking. Both Casey and his helper were a pleasure to interface with. They made the repairs in an expeditious manner. The repairs required Casey to completely penetrate the Spa gunite wall for all three Jets making a hole about 8" square for each. Additionally it required two 8" square holes through my cool deck. That being said I was extremely worried about matching the color of the plaster in the Spa as well as the grey cool deck color. Casey assure me that he would be able to do so pretty good......I was skeptical...….I was wrong to be......Casey was right...………….What an outstanding job and a pleasant experience for me...….my worries were all for nothing...……..I won't hesitate to call or recommend American Leak Detection.....what a great crew...….but wait it didn't end there.....I still had to pay the invoice that was left after Casey and his helper were done...….so I called to pay the invoice and Talked to Heather Riley.........….What can I say just another breath of fresh air....."cudos" to the entire American Leak Detection team...….”- Jack
